We do not manufacture the garments we sell, so our responsibility is to choose suppliers carefully and favour businesses that publish clear standards for working conditions, responsible sourcing and supply-chain oversight.
Responsible sourcing
We work with established schoolwear and clothing suppliers that use measures such as:
- Supplier codes of conduct
- Factory audits and compliance checks
- Policies against forced labour and child labour
- Health and safety standards
- Fair treatment and non-discrimination requirements
- Traceability and supply-chain monitoring
Standards and certification vary between suppliers and individual products, so we avoid suggesting that every garment carries the same credentials.
Respect for workers
We expect the businesses we work with to support safe workplaces, lawful employment practices and fair treatment throughout their supply chains.
This includes respecting workers’ rights and taking steps to identify and address risks such as unsafe conditions, excessive working hours, discrimination, forced labour and child labour.
Honest and practical choices
We recognise that global clothing supply chains are complex, and no retailer can improve them through claims alone.
Our approach is to work with reputable suppliers, review the information they provide and make better sourcing decisions where practical.
Where reliable ethical or certification information applies to a particular product, we aim to include it within the product description.
